DIY Cat Scratcher

Crafting has slowly become my life. I craft presents, household products, decor, inside and out. Your stuff may not look as good as the expensive store bought, but it's a real life saver when you have little to no money.

We recently got two kitties. They are sisters and very ornery. We don't have much money, so I knew I had to put my crafting skills to good use and DIY them some awesome toys.

My first attempt at a DIY cat toy, is this fun scratcher. It is so easy to do and you don't need much to get it made.

Collect:
Boxes,
scissors/box cutter
Hot glue gun
Decor/Markers

As a product reviewer, I get a lot of boxes, sadly, I had just thrown my latest stash out, so mine is a work in progress. Start out by breaking down the boxes and cutting everything in pieces.

The box I used, the pieces from the sides, lips etc, all came out to the be the same size. If I had it to do over, I would definitely cut them all in half, so it wouldn't be so tall.

Anyway, when you get them all cut and ready to go, you can do one of two things. Take them and run them down a sharp edge to make them pliable, or you can just start folding and rolling. It is much easier when you run them down and edge though.

As you roll, add a few drops of hot glue and roll it some more. When you get to the end of that piece of cardboard, line up the next one and continue. I ended up doing larger sections quickly. The glue will dry fast, so you have to move at a quick pace if you do it that way. You can also continue to do a few drops and inches at a time. It is all up to you.

Just keep this up until it is the size you want it to be. Once you are all done, you can decorate it with markers, glitter, pictures etc. Make it your own and personalize it.

My kitties are still getting use to it here, they have messed with this a few times and they seem to like it well enough. every day they explore more and more and I can't wait to DIY their next toy!

What are you animal's favorite toys? Do you DIY any toys for them? I would love to hear all about them, please let me know below. Thank you so much for reading everyone.
