Growing up, I had no problem buying or getting the things that I neeeded, without worry. Adult me though, realizes, that life is all about work, and if you can't afford something, try to make it yourself.
I am all about making things that you probably already have in your home. There are even some DIY's, that I will keep the project shelved for months or years, until I can get all the materials needed, for free. That does make for a packed storage room though, and I have to start getting these out to your guys. As always, if you have ideas, let me know in the comments. :)
Now a little background... My bathroom is pretty small. There is storage space, but it is cramped and not nearly the amount that we need. Other reviewers know what I mean. We get a LOT of bathroom products and many continue to be used. Soooo... one day I was putting on my makeup and it was so annoying to have to keep opening up the door and getting out what I needed.
I gathered all of my materials first, just to make sure I have everything. I gathered the following:
Glue Gun and Sticks
Plastic Container (I used a gelato container)
Craft Tape
Box Cutter or other small Knife
Wall Fastener (I used 2 Coat Hanging Knobs)
To start out, take your knife and the plastic container. Cut a few small holes into the bottom (If you are using this for your make up brushes). You can do a long straight line that gets bigger, or holes that the make up brushes will fit down into.
My wall fasteners needed to go through the side of my container, so the holes had to be made there. After I am done making all of the holes, i wrapped the craft tape all around it, like a second skin. It took me a few layers, to stop the images on the container from coming through. (They aren't ones you can take off, I tried!! lol)
When it was looking all beautiful, I cut the holes back out again and slide the fasteners into the back of the container. Since they already have sticky tape on them, I peeled and stuck. Now, you can use a piece of wood, or some other crafty way to stick it to the wall, I just used some review product, I have had for awhile.
Then, all you have to do, is decide what to put in it!. If you were to screw it to the wall, you could put more items inside, then other methods. So depending on how you hang it, you have lots of options. Hairbrush/hair ties/bands, make up brushes/make up, perfumes and colognes, jewelery ETC
The best part about this, is I had everything on hand, plus you can hang them or just keep them on hand as a portable storage, and even in other rooms on the walls there. It's super easy to make, it took me more time to wrap it than it did to do all the rest of the tasks.
Speaking of decorating, make sure you make it into your own. Do something you love. Go crazy with all that fun art stuff. You can even let your kids make their own containers. It may make them keep at least a few things picked up.
I had so much fun making this and I think you will as well, like I said, it could be a fun craft day with the kids or your friends. As always, thank you all so much for reading!
