There are so many books out there, that say they are for YA and really aren't. They include bad language, difficult or scary scenes, and story lines that just aren't appropriate. I wanted to watch what my kids read. They love to read and reading is very important, but I didn't want them to read anything that I didn't read first and approve of. I have read a lot of books, some of them were great, but most of them didn't make the cut.
The Glimmer Girls series is a great faith based christian book, written by Natalie Grant, a four time Grammy nominated Christian and Gospel Artist. Not only, does she have multiple awards she also co-founded Hope For Justice International. Which is an organization that identifies, rescues and restores victims of human trafficking. She is an amazing woman, singer, human, and author, among other things.
I received the first two books in this series, London Art Chase and A Dolphin Wish. You get to follow the adventures of twins, Mia and Maddie and their little sister LuLu. There mother, is a famous singer named Gloria Glimmer. Their father and nanny also follow them on their journeys. Mrs. Grant, also has a set of twins and a younger daughter and she is a famous singer. To think that these could be based on real life adventures that their family has had or could have had is pretty cool!
I don't do spoilers, but I will tell you a little bit about each book:
London Art Chase-- This is the first book in the series. I feel like it starts this series out on a high note. The girls make their first trip to London. While there, they stop at an art gallery. That is when Maddie sees an art theft in progress. Together with her sisters and nanny Julia, they become private investigators and follow the thief through London. Never fearing what could happen to them or anyone else, they just wanted to do what was right. There are twists and turns along the way and I couldn't put the book down.
A Dolphin Wish-- Book 2 of the series, takes us to San Diego. While on a trip to Captain Swashbuckler's Adventure Park, they overhear the employees talking about the trouble they are having keeping the animals in their habitats. The girls convince Miss Julia and their parents, to take them back there and they begin the investigation. Searching for clues and the person or persons involved in the moving of animals. You really get to know all the characters a lot better in this one. The first book told a lot about them, but this one dives deeper!
I really enjoyed these books. They are so lighthearted and fun, but at the same time, there is always a mystery to solve, somewhere in the world. Once you start reading them, you won't be able to stop, and if you are like me, and screen books, I think you will see that these will pass with flying colors. I enjoyed them and so do my kids. We can't wait for the next one!
If you would like to win these books, head on over to the Hunka Hunka Burning Reviews Facebook to find out how to enter! Good luck everyone!! I think you and your kids will love these books as much as we do.
