Silicone Slow Feeder For Dogs

A few weeks ago, the vet told us that our beloved Willow was...gasp...overweight! I knew that they would say that, she has gained a bunch since we got her fixed. Dogs have just as much trouble losing weight as humans do. It is all a process starting by a different vet approved overpriced line of dog food, all the way to taking her on more walks. I guess this is yet another journey her and I are going to share!

I have never heard of slow feeders before, so I was pretty interested in figuring out what they were all about and if they would even work. This slow feeder, is made of silicone and a beautiful neon green .(they also have pink) It is made well and is heavier in all the right spots, enabling you to sit it and forget it. I don't think there is much of a chance, that your dog will be able to knock this over and make a mess, unless they bite on to it and make it move/spill.

The pieces that stick up all over the top of the slow feeder are made of the same silicone material, so they are just as soft and flexible as most of the rest of this slow feeder. Basically, you put the food in this and sit it out for your dog. They come up and instead of gulping down their food in seconds, they are made to eat around the feeder, which takes them longer to eat and in turn makes them eat less. Meaning this slow feeder helps with the bloat of eating too fast and the obesity of eating too much. This alone won't make your dog lose the weight, but it is a start!

Another cool thing included with this, is a silicone collapsible travel bowl. It is made of the same silicone and folds down to barely anything, making it much easier to carry it with you on a walk, in your vehicle or as you travel. You can use it for water or food. It would definitely be good if your dog overheats on a walk and you happen to have water on you.

I have to say that I am pretty impressed by this set. Willow hated the slow feeder at first, because she doesn't like change and because she is a gulper. After a few days though she came around and is using this product all the time now! It is so easy to use and clean...and she likes it??? Yeah this is a keeper for sure!
