I think you all know by now that I love to read and any time I can review a physical copy of a book, I will jump at the chance. There is something calm and peaceful about escaping into a nice book. Especially one that you have only read about in history books or watched movies about.
I am not usually one for period pieces. I mean yes I get to learn, but there are always language barriers that I have to over come with them and it seems to make them harder to get into. I never give up though, so I will read everything at least once! I have to say though, I really got into this book and enjoyed it by the time it was done!
Agnes Sorel Mistress of Beauty, is just that, a period piece. It gives you a unique look at how life must be back then and maybe even now for kings, queens, and the rest of the royal court. The thing you don't usually see, is what happens to the help. They all had help, I am sure they were never called slaves, but that seems to be exactly what they are.
Agnes was the maid of honour to the queen. They were confidantes for a long time and Agnes learned a lot about what was going on in the territory. When the queen dies, they all come togeher to mourn her death. Agnes is spotted and tries to ignore it, because the one doing the spotting is royalty. She knows she should never fall, but it happens and they are in love, sadly, it doesn't end well for Agnes.
You know I don't do spoilers, so you have to head over here, to check out the book. I got an advanced copy, but you can preorder the book now and get it around September 7th! You can find out more about this book from there from the description but no reviews are allowed yet, so you will have to go by my word.
I received this product in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion/review/feedback.
