Chef Proven Grater

Growing up, I remember my grandmas having a huge grater. I thought it was the coolest thing and I would use it whenever she needed something grated and I was at her house. It so much fun and really easy to use. As with a lot of other things, the cheese grater was simplified and are now made in smaller units, to take up less space and to look better then the graters of  the other generations.

The Chef Proven grater that I received, has a simplistic but well made design. Although it is longer then the grater I used as a child, it is flat and has a one handled design. Saves a lot of space by being flat and one sided. I can store mine in a kitchen drawer instead of a cabinet like my grandmother use to have to do.

We aren't really a lemon sort of family, so I set out looking for other things that I could grate. The first thing that I decided on was chocolate. You can grate chocolate for a variety of reasons. I decided to make up some hot chocolate for the family. I threw in some marshmallows and whip cream on top. I then grated some chocolate and sprinkled it on top of the whipped cream. They grated to the perfect size needed and it was really easy to use the grated. Within a minute or two, I had all I needed grated and on top of the whipped cream. This even gave the hot chocolate a minute or two to cool off before I passed it out. Everyone enjoyed the little extra on top.

The second thing that I used this on was a block of cheese. We had no shredded cheese for our tacos only a big block. So I got the grater out and it worked a bit better then I thought it would. I assumed the cheese would mush together and plug up the grater, but since it had been in the fridge and not room temp, they held together better then expected. Afterwards I put it all in a bowl and everyone used it like it was shredded cheese. It worked just as well and only took a few minutes to do.

For Christmas I am going to be making a few pies and other desserts. This will be a great way to use the grater. I am going to grate up some more chocolate and put it over the top of the pies that need whip cream. This will also be a great addition to any cakes that I or someone else make. They will make the desserts look beautiful and will add just a touch of chocolate to the taste.

It is safe to say, that I am in love with this product. I enjoy the fact that it is so easy to use and to store when not in use. Clean up was really easy on it as well. The little bits came right out of the holes after soaking for a few minutes. If you need something grated and you need it in a hurry, this is the product you need. Chefs and mom's alike of all cooking levels and styles can use this product and make some beautiful dishes.
