When it comes to smells, I have always loved the smell of Shea Butter. Whether it is in lotions or my favorite shampoos, I just love to use. The way it makes you smell is better then anything else you could ever use in my opinion. I will purposely buy something even if it is more expensive simply because of the words shea butter on the package.
I was really happy when I got picked to review shea butter. I was unaware of the form it would come in and I should have done my homework so I would have understood exactly what I would be getting. I was thinking it would be spreadable sort of like butter but I wasn't prepared for the big block that I received. Just like normal Adovia filled the container to the top which was very nice, but I just couldn't understand how I was suppose to use the Shea butter.
When I went online to find out about it I heard different opinions on how to use it, so I chose the one that I thought would be the easiest for me. I got some out and put it in a container and I put it in the microwave for about 5 seconds. It was hot when I got it out so remember always let it cool before grabbing any container or using any product straight from the microwave. I let it sit for a few minutes and it wasn't runny it was just slightly less hard then the rest of the container of shea butter.
I decided to use it on my stretch marks. Any woman who has had a baby knows the struggle of stretch marks. Those bad boys are hard to get rid of, yes they are a symbol of having your children but they are also ugly and I can't wait for them to go away! So I put them on my belly all around where the stretch marks were and I left y shirt up for a little while so it would dry because the container says it won't make you greasy. I finally got tired of waiting and put my shirt down. Hours later I was still greasy. I didn't like that at all. Maybe if it actually smelled like shea butter, but it didn't really smell like anything. I don't know what they put in the lotions and shampoos to make shea butter smell the way it does but it obviously has an additive because pure shea butter doesn't smell anything like what I am use to.
The next night, I decided to try and use it right out of the container because I thought maybe I was so greasy the night before because I used the microwave. This method took me about 10 times as long to do because you just can't get a good amount on you in a short amount of time. I wasn't greasy but I didn't really feel like I had any on my body either. So after that I went back to the batch that had been microwaved and even though it made me greasy (sometimes I was still greasy when I got in the shower the next day) I knew that it was applied and continuing to work.
I have experienced a slight fading of my stretch marks so I have to say that this product is doing what it says it will/can do. So far I am happy with the results I have gotten and I will keep using it. I will take being a little greasy over having these crappy stretch marks any day of the week! Just like every other thing from Adovia, I love this product and was very excited to have the chance to review it.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
